Page 3 shows the next 5 days of our trek
We crossed the 5414m Yala La (high but easier as acclimatization gets better) then spent two nights at Pung Kharka (4700m) because of unforeseen delays.
This was followed by a very long walk to Pho via the 5585m Nyingma Gyanzen La. That pass crossing essentiaily involves a total of 1200m of ascent and 1800m of descent. This is pretty massive at this altitude but cannot be split because there is no water at all along the way (at least not in the autumn). We arrived at Pho in the dark. Fortunately two people in our crew had crossed that pass before and knew how to navigate the final descent to Pho otherwise we would probably not have found it in the dark. Again unforeseen delays forced us to spend two days in Pho. Not a bad thing after the very long previous day.
Pho is one of the most remote villages in Nepal and consists of 14 households (around 80 inhabitants) living in stone houses at 4080m. With the nearest (dirt) road almost a week's walk away life is tough but people seem happy and healthy and the houses are in good condition (probably some wealth from yartsa gumba which nowadays sells for incredible prices in China).
